Grab your night vision goggles — the Fourth Echelon awaits. The upcoming animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, starring Liev Schreiber (The Perfect Couple) as Sam Fisher, offers a sharp new take on modern espionage in the hybrid-war era.
Here’s everything you need to know about Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch.
Splinter Cell follows Fisher, a black ops agent working for a US government division called the Fourth Echelon. In this first look at the upcoming series, a pair of goggles sinks in water and flowers are placed on the coffin of a man named Douglas Shetland. The words “Beloved Father” are inscribed on the wooden casket, and Fisher narrates, “Once you get used to the shadows, you see bad people for who they really are. And they’ll never see you coming for them.”
The series comes from Ubisoft Film & Television and animation studios Sun Creature and Fost. It’s directed by Guillaume Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage, and the head writer is Derek Kolstad (John Wick). The executive producers are Kolstad and Hélène Juguet, Hugo Revon, and Gérard Guillemot for Ubisoft.
Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is an animated adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, the award-winning series of espionage video games created by Ubisoft. The first was released in 2002. A series of tie-in novels following Fisher on his missions as a black ops agent were published in the mid 2000s.
